Hi, I’m Ashleigh Kapetanakis.
My approach to education and wellness is rooted in the whole person philosophy, which emphasizes the interconnectedness of different aspects of an individual's well-being. It recognizes that individuals are not just physical beings, but also emotional, social, and spiritual beings. I believe in addressing all aspects of a person's well-being, including their physical health, emotional well-being, social connections, and spiritual beliefs.
As a society, we have increasingly prioritized achievement through standardized testing, consumerism, and disconnecting our body and mind. This shift has led to a neglect of the emotional, social, and physical needs of children and adults. Life is not graded through paper exams but rather through our experiences.
Our experiences shape our understanding of the world and our place in it. They teach us empathy, resilience, and the importance of connection. They help us develop our values, our passions, and our sense of purpose. They are the fabric of our lives, the stories we tell, and the memories we cherish.
The lack of community in America's society has contributed to the rise in stress, anxiety, and depression. In a society that values individualism and independence, many individuals feel isolated and disconnected from others.
In a community, individuals can come together to support one another, share resources, and work towards common goals. This sense of belonging and connection can help individuals feel more supported and less alone.
My Purpose
My goal is to create a community through Rooted to Rise. By nurturing our roots of child development, we can rise to be strong, self-sufficient adults.
Women are our cornerstone of community. They are not only the nurturers and caregivers but also the storytellers and the holders of cultural knowledge. Women have historically been the primary educators in many cultures, passing down traditions, values, and skills from one generation to the next.
Furthermore, women are natural community builders. They have a deep understanding of the importance of connection and belonging, and they are often the ones who bring people together to support one another, share resources, and work towards common goals.
This is how I came to the two distinctive paths of supporting children through Little Roots Academy and women, through By the Moon and Tide.
I am a firm believer in the power of education and self-discovery to transform lives. My own journey has been shaped by my love for nature, my dedication to learning, and my desire to make a positive impact in the world. I am grateful for the opportunity to share my passion with others and to help them find their own path to growth and well-being.
