Holistic Approach to Education
Little Roots Academy
Nature-Based Enrichment
At Little Roots Academy, we believe in the power of nature to inspire curiosity, creativity, and a lifelong love of learning. Our philosophy is rooted in the belief that children learn best when they are engaged in hands-on, experiential learning experiences that connect them to the natural world.
Our nature-based learning approach is designed to foster a deep connection to nature and promote holistic development.
Through outdoor exploration, nature walks, gardening, and other outdoor activities, children have the opportunity to learn about the environment, develop their senses, and build a sense of wonder and awe for the world around them.

Little Roots Academy Summer Camps
Ages 6–10 | Herndon, VA
Little Roots Academy Summer Camps offer children a hands-on, outdoor summer experience rooted in nature, creativity, and practical life skills. Our small-group, fully outdoor camps are designed to nurture confidence, curiosity, and connection through meaningful, child-centered learning and play.
Each week features a unique theme:
Week 1: Learning to Live on the Land
Shelter building, land skills, nature awareness, and outdoor problem-solving.
Week 2: Growing Food and Caring for Animals
Gardening, plant care, food systems, and learning where our food comes from.
Week 3: Making and Maintaining What We Use
Hands-on making, simple tools, crafting, and learning how everyday items are created and cared for.
Families may enroll in one or more weeks. Our small group size and low teacher-to-student ratio create a supportive, welcoming environment where children can explore, build skills, and connect with nature.
